How to Buy a Valorant Account Safely in 2026 (Without Getting Scammed or Banned)

Buying a Valorant account is the fastest way to skip the grind: a fresh level-20 account for ranked, a second account in another region, or a smurf so your main's rank stays untouched. It's also an area full of bad listings and recycled accounts. This guide covers exactly what to check before you pay, the red flags that get people scammed, and the five minutes of work after delivery that keep the account yours.

What you're actually buying

A "Valorant account" is a Riot account with Valorant progress on it. The things that matter are not the fancy title in the listing but these four details:

Level. Ranked unlocks at account level 20, so if you want to play Competitive straight away, the listing has to say level 20 or higher. "Ranked ready" means exactly that. A level-1 account is cheaper but you'll have to play roughly 10–15 hours of unrated before you can queue ranked.

Region. Riot accounts are tied to a region (EU, NA, AP, BR, LATAM, KR). You can't change it later without a ticket to Riot, which account resellers can't do for you. Buy the region you play in.

Access level. This is the one most people get wrong. See the next section.

Rank history. A "fresh" account has no ranked history, which means your first placement games decide where you land. Accounts that already have a rank (Immortal, Radiant, etc.) cost more and are a different product: you're paying for the rank, not for a clean start.

Full access vs. unverified — the difference that matters

Listings use two terms and they're not interchangeable.

Full access (FA) means you get the login and the email the account is registered to (or the account has no email attached and you add your own). You can change the password, change the email, and nobody else can recover it. This is the only type of account you should pay serious money for.

Unverified / no email means the Riot account was never linked to an email. That's fine and common with fresh smurfs — you simply add your own email in the first minute. Treat it as full access as long as the listing says the account has no email attached.

"Login only" / "no email access" means somebody else still controls the recovery email. They can take the account back any time. Don't buy these, however cheap.

At SmurfRealm every account listing states its access type in the specs, and anything that isn't full access or unverified isn't allowed on the site.

6 red flags before you pay

  1. Prices far below the market. A ranked-ready EU account costs a few dollars because levelling it costs the seller time. A listing at a fraction of that is either a recycled account that's been sold before or a bait-and-switch.
  2. No access type in the listing. If "full access" isn't stated, assume it isn't.
  3. Payment outside the platform. A seller who asks you to pay by direct crypto transfer, gift card or "friends and family" is removing the one thing that protects you: a marketplace holding the money until you confirm delivery.
  4. No warranty. Fresh accounts should come with at least 24 hours of warranty so that a recovery or a ban from the previous owner's actions is the seller's problem, not yours.
  5. Stock photos of skins on a "fresh" account. A fresh account has no skins. If the image shows a Prime Vandal, it's decoration.
  6. Reviews that all arrived the same week. Check the seller's review history: steady reviews over months beat a hundred that appeared in three days.

How delivery works on a proper marketplace

On SmurfRealm, "Instant delivery" accounts are handed over automatically the second your payment confirms: the username, password and (if attached) email appear on your order page with copy buttons. Manual-delivery accounts are posted in your order chat by the seller within the time shown on the listing, usually under an hour.

Your money is held until you confirm you received what was described, or the warranty window ends. If something's wrong you open a dispute from the order page and a human looks at it. Read how that works on our buyer protection page.

Your first 5 minutes after delivery (do this every time)

  1. Log in at account.riotgames.com, not through the game client. If the login fails, say so in the order chat immediately.
  2. Change the password to something unique that you've never used elsewhere.
  3. Change the email to one you control. If the account has no email, add yours. Confirm the verification email Riot sends.
  4. Turn on two-factor authentication in Riot account settings.
  5. Check the region in the account overview matches what you bought.

Only after step 3 is the account truly yours. If you can't complete it because the old email is still attached and the seller didn't give you access, that's a dispute — don't play on it, and don't wait.

Is buying an account against Riot's rules?

Yes. Riot's terms don't allow transferring accounts, and an account that gets reported can be actioned. In practice fresh, hand-levelled accounts that get a new email and password immediately are rarely touched, while accounts that were shared between many people are the ones that get flagged. You reduce the risk by buying from sellers who level accounts themselves, choosing full access, and following the five steps above — but it's a risk you should go in knowing about. That's also why warranties exist.

Fresh smurf vs. ranked account: which should you buy?

Buy a fresh ranked-ready account if you want a clean smurf, want to play with lower-ranked friends, or want to re-place. It's cheap and disposable.

Buy a ranked account (Diamond, Immortal, Radiant) only if you want to play at that level right now and understand that your first games will show whether you belong there. Expect to pay for every skin and the rank itself, and expect a longer warranty from the seller since there's more that can go wrong.

Avoid "handleveled" claims without proof on expensive accounts; for cheap ranked-ready accounts it matters less, because you'll be re-placing anyway.

FAQ

Can I change the region after buying? No. Buy the right region.

Will I get the email login too? With full access, yes — or the account has no email and you add your own. The listing specs say which.

How long does delivery take? Instant-delivery listings: seconds. Manual: the time shown on the listing, usually under an hour. Details on our FAQ.

What if the account gets banned a week later? Within the warranty window the seller replaces or refunds. After it, it's on you — which is why securing it in the first five minutes matters.

Can I pay by card? Payment methods are shown at checkout; crypto is always available and gets a discount.
